Dear Representative

I am writing to urge you to invoke House Rule IX and bring an immediate vote to impeach Donald J. Trump. This is a matter of privilege. It belongs before the full House now, not in committee, where matters like this go to wait.

Here is what the record already shows. Federal judges have ruled that his administration's freezing of billions of dollars in congressionally approved funding, for environmental programs, research institutions, international aid, violates the Impoundment Control Act and Article I of the Constitution. The power of the purse belongs to Congress. Not to Donald Trump.

His executive order to end birthright citizenship has been blocked by federal courts as a direct violation of the 14th Amendment.

His family's cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial, has received federal regulatory approvals and struck deals with entities under federal oversight, the kind of arrangement the Emoluments Clauses exist to prevent.

Then there are the pardons. He pardoned Trevor Milton, and 666 million dollars owed to defrauded investors disappeared with him, months after Milton and his wife gave millions to the campaign. He pardoned Paul Walczak. 4.4 million dollars in restitution, gone, three weeks after Walczak's mother paid 1 million dollars to sit at a dinner with the president. He pardoned Joseph Schwartz, three months into a sentence for 38 million dollars in fraud, after Schwartz spent close to 1 million dollars on lobbyists to reach the White House. He pardoned Changpeng Zhao seven months after an Abu Dhabi fund moved 2 billion dollars through a currency his own family owns. None of it required an envelope of cash. It only required a signature, on the right day, from the one man who could give it.

This is not the whole record. It is what fits in this letter. I have plenty left for the next.

You took an oath to defend the Constitution. So did he. He has treated that oath as a suggestion, and the law as something that happens to other people. You do not have that same freedom. You swore the same words he did, and they still mean what they meant when you said them. The country cannot afford to wait for him to stop on his own. Nothing in this record suggests he will.
